Prof Neil Robertson

Group Leader

Neil Robertson graduated with BSc and PhD from the University of Edinburgh, then carried out postdoctoral research in the Freie Universität Berlin and University of Wales, Bangor. His first independent position was as Royal Society of Edinburgh/BP Research Fellow in the University of Edinburgh. After this, he moved to Imperial College London as a lecturer, then subsequently returned to the University of Edinburgh as a lecturer, reaching his current position as Chair of Molecular Materials in 2015. His research interests are in materials chemistry for energy and environmental applications, including photovoltaics, electrical energy storage and photocatalytic water treatment.

He is a Chartered Chemist, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His current roles include Dean International Partnerships for the College of Science & Engineering at the University of Edinburgh; and President Elect of the Materials Chemistry Community, Royal Society of Chemistry
